Your BPS work history: how to check it and why to review it
Your historia laboral is the official record of your contributions — and your pension depends on it. How to check it online, what it shows, and how to fix errors. With official sources.
Your pension is computed on what appears in your BPS work history. If there are errors (an employer who didn't contribute, a missing period), it's better to catch them now, not at 60. The good part: checking it is free and online. Here's how.
What the work history is
It's the record of your contributed working life. Per the BPS:

You check it online, in the BPS “Mis aportes” service, where you see your work history, activities, contributions and years computable for retirement, and you can download the certificate. For that you need your personal BPS user:

Here's the important part: the work history isn't always complete. Employers who didn't declare, periods that don't appear, or mis-recorded pay reduce your computable years — and that directly impacts your future pension. So it's worth checking periodically. If you find an error
If you see a missing or mis-recorded period, you can claim with the BPS providing supporting documentation (payslips, contracts, etc.). The sooner you do it, the easier to get the evidence — reconstructing a job from 20 years ago is much harder.
Verify authenticity
If you're asked for your work history (e.g. for a procedure), the BPS has a verifier to confirm the authenticity of the report you generated. That way, whoever receives it can confirm it's legitimate:
