BPS social loans: for retirees and pensioners

June 14, 2026

BPS offers cash loans to retirees and pensioners, repaid by deducting from the benefit. Who qualifies, how to request it online, and the limit on active loans — with official sources.

If you draw a BPS pension or retirement benefit, you have access to a little-known tool: social loans. These are cash loans deducted from your monthly benefit, manageable from home. Here's who qualifies, how to request, and the limits.

What they are

Cash loans from BPS, aimed at its pensioners. The installment is deducted directly from the pension or retirement benefit, which simplifies repayment.

Who qualifies

Beneficiaries who draw BPS benefits, including:

  • BPS retirees.
  • Pensioners (survivor, graciable, special reparatory Law 18.033).
  • Old-age or disability pension beneficiaries.

How to request it

With a Usuario personal BPS you can simulate, request or renew online (it usually requires a few days to have passed since you created or reset the account). It's also possible in person by appointment, including at agents in the interior.

The loan limit

There's a maximum number of active loans (vales) at once: on reaching the cap, you can't take new ones until you pay off or consolidate the existing ones. Check your active loans before requesting another.
