“Cincuentones” is the nickname for those who ended up in the mixed regime (BPS + AFAP) already fairly old — and for many of them that regime wasn't the best choice. The law opened the option to leave the AFAP or revoke earlier choices. Here's what it means and how to approach it, simply.

What desafiliación is

It means undoing the move to the mixed regime (or revoking the article-8 option of Law 16.713), returning to a scheme where contributions count differently. For some older people that improves their pension; for others, not. So it's a personal decision that depends on each person's numbers.
