DGI registration certificate (RUT card): what it is and how to download it
The registration certificate (RUT card) is the document that proves you're registered with DGI. Which certificates exist, how to download them from Servicios en Línea, and what they contain — with official sources.
When you register with DGI, the State issues you a constancia: the document proving your business exists and is registered. Banks, clients and agencies will ask for it. Here's what certificates exist, how to download them, and what data they carry — data that also defines your tax situation.
What is the registration certificate?
It's the official proof of your entry in the Single Tax Register (RUT). DGI defines it when describing the procedure to request a duplicate:
DGI describes it as:
«Es el trámite para solicitar el duplicado de la tarjeta de RUT, constancia de inscripción ante el Registro Único Tributario.»
In English: It is the procedure to request a duplicate of the RUT card, the registration certificate with the Single Tax Register.

Per the forms, DGI issues several certificates. These are the ones you'll use most as a sole trader:
| Form | What it is | What it's for |
|---|---|---|
| F. 6906 | Registration certificate (RUT card) | Company data, activity and obligations |
| F. 6907 | Holder certificate (individual) | Your registered personal data |
| F. 6951 | Validity certificate | Addresses, group and activity status |
How to download it
You download it online, free, from DGI's Servicios en Línea with your Usuario gub.uy or Usuario DGI: go to “Registro Único Tributario”, choose “Constancia de inscripción – Impresión”, and print or save it as a PDF. You can also request a duplicate in person.

The 6906 certificate isn't just a piece of paper: it condenses your tax situation. It lists:
- The RUT number and the business name.
- The activity start date.
- The registered activity (CIIU code).
- The DGI group (NO CEDE / CEDE / Large Taxpayers).
- The registered obligations (for example IVA, IRAE, Patrimonio).
How Tributo helps
In Tributo you can upload your 6906 certificate when creating your profile: we read it on your own device (it's never uploaded to a server or stored) and pre-fill your RUT and activity start date so you don't type them by hand. You answer a few questions for the rest.
In short: the constancia is the official proof of your registration and a summary of your tax situation. Know how to download it, keep it handy, and always verify the details with DGI. When in doubt, ask your accountant.
