How to access DGI's Servicios en Línea (your credential)
Almost everything with DGI is done online, but first you need a way to identify yourself. The two routes — Usuario gub.uy and Usuario DGI — how to get the credential, and what you can do inside. With official sources.
Today almost everything with DGI is done online: returns, payments, certificates. But to enter Servicios en Línea you first have to identify yourself. Here are the two ways in and how to get your credential.
Two ways to access
You can log in two ways: with your Usuario gub.uy (the State's single digital identity, formerly ID Uruguay) or with a specific Usuario DGI. Either works; the difference is how you obtain it.
Usuario DGI
It's DGI's own credential, tied to your RUC (or NIE if you're a foreigner). DGI explains it as:

«El acceso con Usuario DGI se realiza con el número de RUC o el número de Identificación Extranjera (NIE) y con una clave que se obtiene en DGI, en redes de cobranza o firmando un contrato de adhesión.»
In English: Access with Usuario DGI is done with the RUC number or the Foreign Identification Number (NIE) and a password obtained at DGI, at collection networks, or by signing an adhesion contract.

It's a single account for all State services. To access DGI you usually need a verified security level (in person, or with an electronic ID card, Abitab's Identidad Mobile, or Antel's TuID). Once identified, you enter Servicios en Línea:

- Download your registration certificate (RUT card).
- File returns and check your status.
- Generate payment slips and pay online.
- Check your Certificado Único (up-to-date status).
In short: to operate with DGI you need a credential, whether Usuario gub.uy or Usuario DGI. Get it once and you save yourself queues forever. If you're just starting, your accountant can help with the first login.
